This article walks through how to update your email, mailing address, practice affiliation, and communication preferences in the GVMA Portal. Use the Table of Contents below to jump to the section you need.
Why Keeping Your Info Current Matters
Keeping your contact info current means you won't miss CE announcements, renewal reminders, regulatory updates from GVMA, or your GA Vet magazine. It also ensures your CE certificates and receipts land in the right inbox.
How to Update Your Profile
How do I update my profile?
Sign into the GVMA Portal at members.gvma.net, click the Manage Your Profile button on your dashboard or select Manage My Profile under the Account menu item. Visit the section you would like to update and select the field you'd like to change:
- Basic Information — name, email, phone, mailing address, etc.
- Work Info — organization name, job title, contact role(s), work address, and work phone number
- Professional Info — license number, credentials, specialties, graduation year, veterinary school, etc.
- Directory Listing Info — determine whether you will be included in our online directories for Veterinarians, Relief Veterinarians, and/or Veterinary Specialists
- Communication Preferences — which types of communication methods GVMA is allowed to use to reach you (email, text, phone call, and/or physical mailers)
Make your changes and click Save. Most updates take effect immediately.
Changing Your Login Email
- How do I change the email address associated with my login?
If you need to change the email address associated with your login (not just your contact email), log into your account and update the email listed under the Basic Information section of your profile and click Save. You'll use the new email the next time you sign in. If you run into trouble, submit a support ticket and we'll update it from our end.
Updating Practice Affiliation
- I've changed practices — how do I update my affiliation?
If you've changed practices, update your organization in the Work Info section of your profile.
Note: If your new practice has a Premier Membership, ask their administrator to assign you as a member under the organization so you can access team benefits. Your organization's manager or administrator can visit this page to add you to the membership.
If you're leaving a Premier practice, the manager or administrator of the organization can visit this page to remove you from the Premier membership. Your member benefits may need to be re-established under an Individual membership. You can visit this page to view your current membership status. Submit a support ticket for assistance.
Practice Managers: Updating Info for Your Staff
- How can I update contact info for someone on my team?
Organization contacts that have been assigned the contact role of Administrator or Manager can update contact info for anyone on their roster. From the GVMA Portal at members.gvma.net, select Manage My Organization's Contacts from the Account menu item, navigate to the contact you need to update, and click the Edit button next to their profile. After making changes, click Save.
Special note: Be sure to assign any necessary roles to your employees' profiles within the roster. Your role options are "Administrative Contact" (full organizational account control), "Billing Contact" (receives all invoices billed to the organization), and "Manager" (can manage employee & membership rosters and pay invoices on behalf of the organization).
Updating Communication Preferences
- How do I update my communication preferences?
To manage which types of communication methods GVMA is allowed to use to reach you (email, text, phone call, and/or physical mailers) or to manage your GA Vet Magazine subscription:
Sign into the GVMA Portal at members.gvma.net.
Click Manage Your Profile on your dashboard or select Manage My Profile under the Account menu item.
Visit the Communication Preferences section and select the field you'd like to change.
